"Grand Valley Creative Alliance (GVCA) allows me to have a voice in the community. The arts are important to me, my family and people I connect with. As a newcomer to Grand Junction, GVCA quickly connected me to other local community members who believe arts and culture are part of a healthy, spirited community. As a board member, I have developed relationships with city employees, arts organizations, artists and new friends. I am grateful for the opportunity to advocate for arts and culture activities in the Grand Valley. "

Julia March Crocetto is an artist, educator, and advocate. Her art-making practice investigates the intersection of ecology and craft, chance operations and intentionality. Her research- and process-based studio practice employs printmaking, fiber arts, book arts, sculpture, creative mapping, and ecology.
Her philosophy has been influenced by living and working in many parts of the American West. Years of working as a professional observer – naturalist, guide, and park ranger – inform her outlook and motivate her investigations. Her work is held in public and private collections and has been shown internationally. She earned her B.F.A. summa cum laude in Art and Ecology at the University of New Mexico and her Master of Fine Art at the Oregon College of Art and Craft.
Her administrative, operations, logistics, and event organizing experience includes non-profit, corporate, government, and educational organizations. Her work with Elderhostel (now Road Scholar) sparked her desire to promote Lifelong Learning. She has taught workshops since she was a teen and currently teaches art at Colorado Mesa University where she became interested in our capacity for three-dimensional perception.
Julia has served as juror and judge for regional and international exhibits and organizations. She is is a past board member of Silk Painters International, Steering Committee member of the Art Quilt Associates and is a past Board Member of Denali Arts Council where she was founding director of their North Wall Gallery and co-founded the Talkeetna Artists Guild.
