Leigh Ashman joins the GVCA Board as a long-time Grand Junction resident originally hailing from Albuquerque, NM.
Always appreciative of any arts, Leigh has long been exercising her creative muscles with interior design, landscape design, DIY projects, and more recently construction, stained glass, pottery, and painting. When she's not at work managing a local accounting firm, she's making art in the massive garage/art studio/car shop/apartment she and her husband built themselves in their backyard. Or rehabbing their cabin. Or finishing out the basement in their 100 year old home in Downtown GJ. They do a lot of projects. And rescue a lot of dogs. They also love to travel, scuba dive, and spend time with friends and family.
In her background, you'll find marketing, SEO, business ownership, public relations, journalism, management, volunteer work, and lots of other experiences. Her favorites thus far: working for Disney and the PGA Tour tournament it hosts as part of her Master's Degree, and living the van life while traveling the country in a Volkswagon Vanagon with her husband and two dogs.
As an artist, Leigh knows GVCA is what our community needs. We all need an organization larger than one gallery owner, group of artists, building, or idea. We need this art megaphone that lends a bigger voice to what each is trying to achieve and grow. Having personally felt the void GVCA is on a mission to fill, she's ready to start shoveling as a proud Board Member.
